Club & Discipline Policies & Authorization
I authorize my child to participate in AWANA functions & activities and take pictures of my children for LRC promotional material. I understand that every effort will be made to protect and safeguard all participants. I agree not to hold Living Rock Church liable for any illness or mishap from any cause whatsoever. As a parent/guardian, I authorize the treatment by a qualified and licensed medical doctor of the above named minor in the event of a medical emergency which, in the opinion of the attending physician, may endanger him or her, cause disfigurement, physical impairment, or undue discomfort if delayed. This authority is granted only after a reasonable effort has been made to reach me. This release form is completed and signed of my own free will with the sole purpose of authorizing medical treatment under emergency circumstances in my absence. I agree to the Awana discipline policy as stated below.
1. Reward good behavior with recognizing positive actions to encourage child.
2. Remind the child of proper classroom behavior and what is expected.
3. Redirect the child when having difficultly, by gently removing the child from distracting other children and finding another place to continue within the group.
4. Remove the child from the group, but within view of volunteers, to give the child an explanation of what is wrong with their behavior and give the child several minutes to sit away from the group equal to the child's age. When the child has settled, the child will be invited back to rejoin the group. The leader will report this action to the director, who then informs the the parent and instructs the parent to speak to the child at home. The parent will explain to the child at home about the Awana behaviorial expectations and consequences before returning the next week.
5. Return the child to the parent if methods listed above fail to change the behavior. The parent will be called to pick up the child immediately. The director will again explain the behaviorial expectations to remain in the program and reassure the child that he/she is welcome to return the following week. If the child continues to misbehave, the parent will be called, and the child cannot return for the remainder of the school year.
Awana may be cancelled due to dangerous weather conditions.
The following procedures apply: 1. When Norwood Schools are closed or Wednesday evening events cancelled, there will be no LRC children or student activities that evening. 2. When inclement weather moves in late Wednesday, a decision to cancel will be made by 2PM at the latest. Please check www.livingrockchurch.com .
